Paddle, Learn, Connect: Exploring Squam Lake

Paddle, Learn, Connect: Exploring Squam Lake

Join New Hampshire Environmental Educators (NHEE) and the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) for a guided paddling adventure focused on the waters that connect us.

Led by NHEE Board Member and Squam Lakes Association Director of Education Kyle Salmons, this hands-on field experience will explore watershed science, water quality, lake stewardship, and the work being done to protect New Hampshire’s freshwater resources. Participants will gain insight into how individual actions, community partnerships, and conservation efforts help maintain the health of our lakes and watersheds.

Throughout the paddle, Kyle will share examples of environmental education programs, citizen science initiatives, and water quality monitoring projects that can be adapted for schools, camps, nature centers, and community groups. Participants will leave with practical ideas, resources, and connections that support environmental literacy and stewardship.

We’ll also make time to connect with one another. Midway through the trip, we’ll land on an island to enjoy lunch, stretch our legs, share ideas, and take a swim before paddling back to the SLA.

Whether you’re a classroom teacher, nonformal educator, environmental professional, or simply interested in learning more about New Hampshire’s lakes, this experience offers a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and recharge outdoors.

Participants will earn 3.5 hours of professional development.
