GLOBE Protocols Training: PD Day for Educators

GLOBE Protocols Training: PD Day for Educators

Explore our local waters and forests using environmental data collection protocols from the GLOBE Program. We will ground our exploration with a list of research questions you can take back and use with your learners.

Water Quality Option: Learn how to measure water temperature, pH, transparency, macroinvertebrates, and assess water health. These protocols complement the Earth Around Us Water Tent, a pop-up tent with striking murals designed by New Hampshire students and a local artist that comes with the materials needed for data collection. The Water Tent can visit your school or program!

Trees and Vegetative Assessment Option: Learn how to measure and classify the plant life in your area. Data collection protocols include canopy cover and ground cover, identifying dominant and co-dominant vegetation species, and measuring tree circumference and height. These measurements can be used to monitor changes in a forest over time and connect to NASA satellite measurements!

A brief pre-workshop assignment is required to be prepared to get started with GLOBE! Details will be sent after you register.
