Midday Meetup – Explore the Earth Around Us: Soil and Water Tents for NH Educators
Join New Hampshire Environmental Educators (NHEE) for our Midday Meetup: Guest Speaker Program!
Bring your lunch and join Beth Young, NH GLOBE Program Coordinator at the University of New Hampshire, to discover an exciting, FREE educational resource that brings soil and water science to life! 🌎 🌱 💧
The popular Earth Around Us Tent Program, run through UNH’s Leitzel Center, has expanded to Plymouth State University! Thanks to this expansion, New Hampshire educators now have another convenient location to borrow the program’s immersive Soil and Water Tents, with materials available at PSU’s Lamson Library.
The Earth Around Us Tents combine hands-on science activities with colorful, immersive murals inside 10-by-10-foot tents, inviting students to explore the fascinating worlds beneath their feet and within our waterways. Designed to complement the Elementary GLOBE curriculum, these resources help students build observation skills, collect scientific data, and deepen their connections to local ecosystems.
During this session, Beth will introduce both tents, share examples of engaging activities and curriculum connections, and explain how schools and community organizations can borrow the tents and accompanying educational materials free of charge through UNH or Plymouth State University. She’ll also highlight the implementation guides, videos, and other resources available to help educators bring these experiences to their students.
Whether you’re a classroom teacher, environmental educator, or community program leader, come discover how these unique resources can make soil and water science more accessible, interactive, and memorable!
Come curious, ready to connect, and inspired to bring the Earth Around Us into your classroom or program!

💬 About Midday Meetups:
Midday Meetups are NHEE’s monthly virtual series, inspired by our friends at the Rhode Island Environmental Education Association (RIEEA) and their popular Lunch & Learns. NHEE’s Midday Meetups are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 12:00–1:00 PM, the series alternates between open office hours for connection and idea sharing, and structured sessions with guest speakers on timely topics—from curriculum connections to community collaborations to equity in education.
