Midday Meetup – Apples and Cider: From Blossom to Bottle

 Join New Hampshire Environmental Educators (NHEE) for our Midday Meetup: Guest Speaker Program!

Bring your lunch and join Mike Smith, Agricultural Literacy Coordinator for NH Agriculture in the Classroom and 4-H Community Agriculture, for a conversation about one of New Hampshire’s most beloved fall traditions: apples and cider. 

Many educators know NH Agriculture in the Classroom for its popular maple resources, but this fall Mike will introduce a growing collection of apple-focused lessons and activities designed to engage students in the history, science, economics, and culture of New Hampshire’s apple industry.

Participants will get a preview of the new “Apples and Cider: From Blossom to Bottle” curriculum resources, including hands-on learning activities, cider-making opportunities, grant funding sources, orchard field trip connections, and information about accessing cider presses. Mike will also share additional agriculture-related activities that work well in the fall and throughout the school year.

There is nothing quite like making apple cider to bring learning to life! Discover how this familiar New Hampshire commodity can serve as a powerful tool for teaching across subject areas while helping students better understand the food they eat and the agricultural systems that support their communities.
