June 11-16, 2023 NATURE INSTRUCTION CLINIC at Camp Pemigewassett in Wentworth, NH

Camp Pemigewassett’s Nature Instruction Training Clinic is back for its 27th session!

This 5½-day-long clinic is designed for instructors at day camps, resident camps, outdoor education centers, docents and seasonal staff at nature centers and national and state parks, and for select students from the University of New Haven (for which they receive academic credit).

Scholarship (transportation to camp not included) is available for a participant from a non-profit organization that provides experiences for underserved youth.

  • Teaching techniques
  • Lesson planning
  • Use of local resources
  • Field trip experiences
  • Exploration/observation skills
  • Experiential learning
  • Availability and use of reference materials
  • Starting/maintaining a Nature Center

Post-clinic, participants will be prepared to create and lead:people on a bridge

  • Single-session lessons
  • Day-long lessons
  • Week-long courses
  • Summer-long experiences
  • Nature experiences for large groups
  • Interpretive walks and experiences for park and site visitors

…and to teach the following activities:

  • Birding
  • Insect Ecology, Collection, and Preparation
  • Natural Dyes
  • Cooking with Wild Foodspeople pointing at something outside
  • Rocks and More
  • Weird Science
  • Stargazing
  • Nature Drawing and Journals
  • In the Dark (the wonders of nature at night)
  • Environmental Sculpture
  • Pond and Stream Ecology
