Mother Nature’s Mindfulness: Tools for the Calm Classroommindfullness

Successful classroom instruction can be challenging when the collective energy and behaviors of the class are out of sync with where you need the atmosphere to be!

Together we will explore simple and effective tools using themes and examples from our natural world to increase concentration, promote calm, and engage the senses. These strategies can be used in the classroom as well as outside.

Our areas of focus:

  • Physical Movement: seated and standing nature-themed yoga poses such as Eagle Arms, Acorn to Oak and Butterfly Wings. No mats needed!
  • Breathing Techniques: incorporate math and art through 4 Square Breath and Turkey Talk.
  • Guided Imagery: tips and techniques to create a ready-to-use index of nature-themed scenes. Great for those transition times throughout the day!
  • Safe Scents: essential oil options for promoting calm, focus and fun.

Location:  Hooksett Riverwalk Trail, 111 Merrimack St, Hooksett. Parking is located adjacent to the Hooksett Dog Park.
