SUMMARY:Powering Up with Mount Washington Observatory
DESCRIPTION:Mount Washington Observatory is excited to partner with the New Hampshire Energy Education Program (NHEEP) to provide Powering Up with Mount Washington Observatory! A fun and interactive professional development opportunity for educators in our region. On Wednesday, July 8 from 8:30 – 3:00, come join us for a hands-on professional learning workshop at Mount Washington Observatory Offices, North Conway, NH. Register HERE.\n\nNHEEP’s experiential approach will help demonstrate how energy education can empower student agency for real-world impact. We’ll explore interdisciplinary best practices and systems thinking to integrate authentic, youth-led problem-solving into your curriculum. The session will feature examples on how educators can facilitate, rather than direct, student initiatives. Attendees will experience learning from a student perspective, seeing first hand how learning unfolds. Participants will engage with a climate and energy focused anchoring phenomenon and teaching routines to experience the shift from “learning about,” to a more student-driven “figuring out,” and then practice collecting data in order to identify and implement solutions.\n\nDetails\n\nCredit: 7 PD hours for full day Powering Up, 4 PD hours for half-day Powering Up workshops\nCost: These workshops are offered at no cost to NH teachers thanks to our partnership with NHSaves, and to VT teachers thanks to generous funding. Teachers from other states may take the workshop for $175.\nQuestions: Aubrey Nelson, aubrey@veep.org ( mailto:aubrey@veep.org )\nVEEP/NHEEP will provide snacks. Participants must bring their own lunch.\nRegistration closes one week before the start date.\nPlease note that this training is contingent upon sufficient registration numbers.\n
